Family Literacy Day® is a national awareness initiative created by ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation in 1999, and held on January 27th each year. This special day promotes the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family and community.

During this week, Comox Valley Literacy Now encourages all Comox Valley residents to share and celebrate what they love to learn with others – whether it is reading, writing, singing, dancing, drumming, swimming, or storytelling. The more literacies we learn, the greater our understanding of our world. We can all become more literate.
